The Gaynor Family Regional Library is located on Treaty 1 Territory, the original/ traditional lands of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and the homeland of the Red River Métis. We acknowledge that this land has been a place
of gathering, learning, and storytelling for thousands of years.
As a public library — a place dedicated to knowledge, community,
and the sharing of stories — we honour the enduring presence of Indigenous Peoples on this land and their ongoing contributions to our community. We understand that the library region is situated on the lands that witnessed the forced relocation of Peguis First Nation,
a wound that needs recognition and healing.
We are committed to reconciliation (healing and justice for the Indigenous Peoples) and to making this a welcoming space for all.
